Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Some great-looking sites are never found on the web. They are lost in the vastness of the internet because they were not properly structured semantically. The presentation of information (data) on the web is so important an evolutionary phenomenon known as the "sematic web" is diverging into a new branch. (find out more at SemanticWeb.org). There is also a growing use for microformats (find out more at Microformats.org) as the need to classify, categorize and organize the tremendous amounts of information on the web keeps growing.

Proper SEO is important if you want visitors to find what you have to say or market on the web.

Search Engines use robots that crawl the web for content. Using complex algorithms, within milliseconds respective search results are presented to web surfers each time they enter a term into the search box of a search engine such as Google, Yahoo, MSN (Bing) and others. These results usually point to web pages that contain content relevant to the search term.

Search engines must categorize pages according to the content they contain. An experienced SEO consultant will know how the process works and how to prepare a web site to be more search friendly (optimized). Search engines, as most anything else on the web are dynamic. Their behavior changes as new technologies and methods are implemented. SEO experts will have an arsenal of tools at their disposal, along with constant education and experience, they are able to deliver remarkable results.

A wise Choice

Although most SEO consultants are hard-working and talented individuals or companies, there are many that promise a lot and deliver little. Be sure to deal with a reputable outfit before hiring an SEO consultant. Promises to put your site on the first page of a search engine are a widely used ploy to gain job requests. Many times this result can be accomplished for a very small set of certain keyword combinations, leading the client to believe they are in a good search position. This may not be the case if the search combination contains too many words or do not help drive traffic from the audience the client wishes to attract.

On the other hand, there are clients out there that may have done some reading up on SEO. They think they have it mastered. Unfortunately, unless they have the dedication, time and resources at hand to really learn SEO, their input is not helpful to the webmaster or SEO expert. As a general rule, find a professional you can trust and leave it up to them. Our SEO consultants will usually provide the client with a "before" snapshot of their site popularity and an "after" snapshot some time later. This shows the client the trend and the difference that proper SEO can do for them and it somewhat qualifies and quantifies the work of the SEO Consultant. If the work is good and the client follows the consultant's suggestions, the trend usually continues to go in a positive direction. Some of the SEO results will not be seen for over a year as major Search Engines are beginning to consider the lifetime of the site in their ranking formulas.

A web site with good SEO will get higher ranking for a broader range of search terms relevant to that site's targeted audience.
